This course is a survey of biblical Christian worldview and Christian apologetics. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge of how to think about the world in a Christian way, and to apply scriptural principles to a critical analysis of American culture, society, and politics. In it, we will examine the evidences for essential parts of the Christian faith in order to equip students to be ready to make a defense of the hope that is in them (1 Peter 3:15). The worldview content is based on Summit Ministries’ Understanding the Times curriculum, and the apologetics content is based on materials and readings from the Christian Apologetics Alliance. Lessons are augmented with Bible study and current events discussions.
One unique aspect of this course is the effort of the tutor to equip students for understanding the worldviews held by most college and university faculty, so that students can stand firm in their faith when challenged in the college classroom. Even for students not destined for college, the ability to understand the worldviews competing against biblical Christianity will be critical to understanding the reasons that Christianity is a thinking person’s faith, with implications that apply to all aspects of life and culture.
Resources for the course: Families will be responsible for obtaining curriculum and books. Details will be available by early summer.
